Tip of the Month

Do a Gear/Equipment Check before you leave!

August-September 2012

As I write this I'm finishing up my packing for our Jaguars and the Wildlife of the Pantanal, Brazil photo tour. I had intended to take our expensive, little used Satelite phone but as we loaded the Simms card we found the phone was no longer working! Since Mary is staying home, recovering from a knee replacement, we hoped to stay in touch via the phone. Not now!

We sometimes encounter this type of problem with people on our trips, who packed an item only to find that they forgot a key component or that the piece didn't work. Actually, it has happened to us, too! It is too late when you are hundreds or thousands of miles away to correct the problem.

Instead, do a thorough check and run some scenarios where you can check to see if you are covered for all bases. It will save a headache later on!
